We are pleased to share that a new research paper supported by the PHOREVER project has been accepted for presentation at the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Conference – EMBC 2026.
The paper, titled:
“Stacking Ensemble Learning of Extracellular Vesicle Dynamics Reveals Disease Aggressiveness in Pancreatic Cancer” investigates how extracellular vesicle measurements, combined with clinical data and advanced machine-learning techniques, can support the assessment of tumour aggressiveness in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
This work highlights the potential of combining photonics-derived measurements, extracellular vesicle biomarkers and explainable artificial intelligence to support earlier patient risk stratification and more personalised treatment strategies.
The study was conducted by researchers from the University of Ioannina, the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, BioAnalytica SA and the National Technical University of Athens.
The research contributes to PHOREVER’s wider objective of advancing photonics-enabled technologies and data-driven methods for more accessible, rapid and personalised cancer diagnostics.
